Wii U Trophy/Achievement Petition

The XBOX 360 and PlayStation 3 have been good to us this generation. They’ve not only given us great games to play and new ways to play them, they’ve given us a sort of online diary to keep track of all of our wonderful experiences, and the ability to share out gaming accomplishments with other players and online social communities. The Wii U is the newest of the high definition consoles to grace us with great games and a completely new social community (Miiverse), but there’s still one thing missing… an online record of our gaming experiences and accomplishments. While trophies/achievements may not be important to every gamer, there are plenty who live for the jingle every time they earn one of the digital accolades, and Nintendo has built the perfect social application for sharing and talking about such accomplishments with Miiverse. Trophies/achievements offer gamers different ways to play and replay their games, they allow us to share our experiences and prove that we did what we say we did in a game, they allow us to see which games our friends invested time into and potentially buy the game based on their experience. Achievements allow us to keep a digital record of which games we have played over the course of a generation, and give us an extra sense of accomplishment. With all trophies/achievements offer us players, I believe adding such an overarching accomplishment feature to the Wii U would be beneficial not only to players of the games, but to developers and publishers of the games. We have seen sales of games increase because of trophy support, and we have seen the amount of interest in the feature when Metal Gear Solid 4 got its trophy patch years after launch. With Nintendo owning some of the most iconic IPs in gaming history, the amount of interest in unlocking digital accomplishments in such series as Mario, Zelda and Metroid is high. I ask for your support in letting Nintendo know there is a demand for such a feature on the Wii U.
