This April has an interesting mix of games coming to gaming machines. While there’s heavy competition for my pick of the month, the safe purchase is The Witcher 2 Assassins of Kings… but don’t let that keep you from overlooking the others.
The Witcher 2 Assassins of Kings
The Witcher 2 makes its console premier this April. The action based role playing game has received high praise from critics and gamers alike with it’s superb gameplay, deep story, beautiful visuals and mature content. If you’re looking for a way to pass the time before the magic bunny comes to share its chocolate eggs as a spiritual sacrifice for Jesus, The Witcher 2 is a sure bet. Check out the insane trailer below.
Kinect Star Wars
Anything with the name Star Wars associated gets my attention. I’ve wanted to be Han Solo since seeing Episode IV as a kid. While the franchise has seen its ups (Empire Strikes Back) and its downs (Jar Jar Binks) my love for the galaxy far, far away has never waned. With Kinect Star Wars, Microsoft and LucasArts have teamed up to offer a Star Wars experience unlike any other. With Kinect Star Wars, players will be able to use their bodies’ as a controller as they play through several different franchise inspired levels… from racing pods to lightsaber duels, Kinect Star Wars has plenty to offer fans of all ages… even dancing. For gamers that want to go all out, Microsoft and LucasArts are also offering a custom R2D2 themed XBOX 360 console with Kinect, a C3PO themed controller and a copy of Kinect Star Wars all bundled together. Say what you want about motion gaming… this is freaking cool.
Open world action fans have something to look forward this April as PROTOTYPE comes back for a second installment. With incredible super powers to take down your enemies and an open urban landscape to explore, PROTOTYPE 2 offers many a hour of button mashing goodness. Like with the first game, players can expect brutally gruesome finishing moves and a dark story line with plenty of mystery abounding. PROTOTYPE 2 will be available for PC, PS3 and XBOX 360 on April 24th.
Role Playing Game fans can fire up the Wii this April as the highly anticipated Xenoblade Chronicles hit the console here in the US. With dozens of hours of gameplay and some of the best visuals seen on the tiny white box, Xenoblade Chronicles is a must have for Wii owners.
Ridge Racer Unbounded
Ridge Racer is back this April, and while the series has had its ups and downs, it appears that the series is back to being the action racer we’ve come to love. Hope the Easter bunny hides me a copy somewhere.
Devil May Cry Collection
Some of the best games of last generation are getting their HD remake this April. Featuring Devil May Cry 1, 2 and 3 with upgraded visuals and trophy/achievement support, fans of the series will want to take Dante on another hack and slash adventure, and those who have never experienced the series shouldn’t miss out on what has become a classic franchise.
Disgaea 3 Absence of Justice
PlayStation Vita owners can take the beloved PlayStation 3 game, Disgaea Absence of Justice on the going beginning April 17th.
