Dec 212010

Article By: Zach to the C

Another year is almost gone, and we’re once again left with the craptastic release schedule of another December. If it wasn’t for DLC and downloadable games, it would be a very sad holiday season indeed. But fret not my hardcore brethren 2011 is so full of releases you’ll need to buy your wallet a tube of lube this holiday season to save it from the fisting it will be receiving next year. The list is alphabetical because trying to sort these titles based on want would be impossible… enjoy, and let us know what’s at the top of your list for 2011.

Alice Madness Returns | PC, PS3 and XBOX 360

Spicy Horse and EA are bringing back American McGee’s 2000 classic Alice in their new title, Alice Madness Returns. So… who’s this game for? Well, anyone who’s into fucked up shit and action games. I’d say if you liked Bioshock and God of War, Alice Madness Returns is probably a safe bet. No release date has been set, but you can check out the official website here.

Batman Arkham City | PC, PS3 and XBOX 360

Batman Arkham Asylum was undoubtedly one of 2009′s best games. So with Rocksteady developing the sequel and giving us a larger world to explore and more baddies to punch and kick, we are pumped about the Dark Knight’s return in fall of 2011. You can check out the official Batman Arkham City website here.

Bioshock Infinite | PC, PS3 and XBOX 360

We know Bioshock Infinite isn’t going to release until 2012, but if you’re a die hard fan of the series (like me), you know you’re going to pre-order in 2011 (if you haven’t already). Irrational Games is taking Bioshock from the depths of Rapture to the floating city of Columbia this go around, and the first cinematic trailer is nothing short of jaw dropping. You can check out the official site here.

Brink | PC, PS3 and XBOX 360

If you can’t wait until 2012 to get your floating city shoot on, Brink may very well be the game for you. Splash Damage are creating a floating city called the Ark, which has become a refuge (hence the name Ark) for humans as sea levels rise. You can imagine the rise in property value of such a location, which brings in the shootin’. Brink is set to release 2nd quarter of 2011. Check out the official site here for trailers and story.

Bulletstorm | PC, PS3 and XBOX 360

Developer People Can Fly and co-developer Epic Games (Unreal and Gears of War) are set to bring us 2011′s most insane shooter. Bulletstorm launches 02|22|11, you can check out the official site here.

Catherine | PS3 and XBOX 360

While we have no official word if Catherine is going to be receiving a stateside release, we’re still intrigued by this game. Being developed by the team behind Persona, and being Atlus’ first internally developed HD title there’s a good chance the game could be a big hit in the West. What we know of the actual story line is thin, but with murder, mystery and sensual subject matter, it looks good so far. Brush up on your Japanese and check out the official site here.

Child of Eden | PS3 and XBOX 360

Tetsuya Mizuguchi and the development team at Q Entertainment are looking to bring us 2011′s acid trip of a gaming experience. Said to be a shooter relying heavily on sensory experience, Child of Eden is really more enigma than game at the present. I personally can’t wait to actually experience this game… or whatever it is. Check out the official site here.

Gears of War 3 | XBOX 360

Gears of War 3 is at the top of my list of XBOX 360 exclusives for 2011. Cliffy B and the crew at EPIC appear to be sticking with the tried and true formula which has made the franchise one of the best this generation, and they also add some ladies to the roid ridden posse this time. See the official Gears site here.

yeah, the only games I’m looking forward to (that are actually announced) are:
Rage
Star Wars Kinect
Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Future Soldier
Homefront
I think these will be all that steal me from the likes of Assassin’s Creed Brotherhood, Fallout: New Vegas, and Halo: Reach

The 3DS should very well be on the list… along with it could be the new Kid Icarus title coming to the 3DS. I think $300 is a bit much for the handheld and don’t expect it to sell beyond core gamers at that price point. The software line-up for the 3DS is looking good, but to reach the audience Nintendo is used to reaching, I think a lower price will be needed. Let me say, I don’t expect it to flop, but I don’t see DS sales figures with that price point.

You are forgetting one more Reason: The 3DS. A hand held console that has ps2 graphics but best of all, it gives u the 3d effect like when u go to watch a 3d movie, just for games and u don’t need to wear glasses. Its price: only $300. That is wicked and its backwards compatible. You need to add that on your list. Totally buy this thing.

@ Black Mamba
Trine 2 and Batman AC are looking pretty sweet… loved the first Trine and Batman AA. Brink is looking really pretty visually, I’m ready to give it some play time. I’m excited for MGS Rising, but don’t know if it will live up to 4 without Kojima running the show, but I hope it exceeds expectations. As for Alice, I can’t wait to see more of it… it looks fucking warped.

PS Welcome to the OG community.

Trine 2 and Batman AC are sequels to two of my favorite games so I’m really looking forward to them. Brink is another one I’ve been anticipating for a while. I’m excited to see the new MGS will be available for PC and 360 because I missed out on 4. The new Alice also looks pretty wicked so I’ll probably end up getting that too.
